No Time Like The Present.

Moving. A word that instils both panic and excitement.

To stand in your home of 10 years, look around and realise that you’re packing and taking only a few things is mildly terrifying. Naturally, the simple solution was to procrastinate by flicking between google maps, tripadvisor and nestoria.de*, and wait for those mysterious packing fairies (wishful thinking?). Well unfortunately for me the packing fairies didn’t come, but here I am telling the story from the other side of the world. I survived!

New Year. New Country.

Cue fireworks. Cue champagne pop. Cue midnight kiss. “OMG it’s 2014 – this year is going to be awesome”, she posted on Facebook. “OMFG it’s 2014 – this year is scaring the crap out of me and it’s only just begun, and I can’t speak german and I live in Germany, and we have an apartment with no furniture, and I have no job, and I have no friends, and I can’t get my phone working yet because my iPhone is still locked on my freakin Australian phone provider – SHIT!”, she thought.

That pretty much sums it up in a nutshell. The sweet sounds of social media perfection says, I’m fiiiiiine. But let’s be honest, who wants a real status update, you’ll be unfriended and your posts will be blocked before you can say…you get it. The point is – it’s now January 2015, and it’s time for me to share my experience. Because when the clock struck midnight this year, I could and can genuinely say: “This year is going to be awesome!”
